Following the successful completion of the 2018 London Gateway Port environmental marine monitoring programme, Eco Marine has also been awarded the contract for 2019. Monitoring in 2019 will involve both intertidal and benthic surveys which form part of the long-term environmental programme that has been conducted in the Thames Estuary since 2001. Amongst other sites, Eco Marine will continue to support London Gateway by surveying Salt Fleet Flats, a managed realignment area created in 2016 to offset any potential losses of habitat elsewhere in the Estuary. The successful transition of Salt Fleet Flats from terrestrial environment to colonised mudflat over the last couple of years has proven to be fascinating and our team are delighted to be able to continue to monitor the site in the coming months.
