This August, the Eco Marine survey team undertook a Phase I and Phase II post-construction intertidal survey on behalf of Collaborative Environmental Advisors (CEA) and NemoLink. The survey was conducted following the burial of a powerline cable at Pegwell Bay, Kent. The survey was conducted during a period of spring tides which allowed our field team to witness an incredible variety of wildlife from saltmarsh along the high shore to vast numbers of Lanice conchilega annelid worms (pictured) residing in submerged sandy pools along the lower shore. Faunal sample analysis by Eco Marine taxonomists revealed the presence of a complex intertidal community with more than 60 taxa present. A follow-up monitoring survey is due to be completed at Pegwell Bay in 2020 thus fulfilling terms set out for the ecological monitoring programme in the original EIA.
