This spring, Eco Marine completed the final survey of a two-year project concerning the construction of an outfall pipe near Swanscombe, Kent. Working on behalf of Middlemarch Environmental, Eco Marine carried out three intertidal characterisation surveys over the course of the project, during pre-construction, post-construction, and the operational stage, to determine the status of the habitats and epifaunal communities present in the area. This series of surveys allowed the team to assess any changes to the foreshore that may have occurred following construction of the outfall pipe.
Upon completion of the ecological surveys, the Eco Marine team has analysed the data and presented it in an evidence based technical report which describes the distributions of sediment types and epibenthic communities present within the survey area.
